HUGE SUCCESS!

MnCIFA changed its mission to reiterate its focus in equity, which was the intent of the legislation and all that work we put in creating this entity to move us to a green economy, equitably. 

Mission Statement release Oct. 2024: MNCIFA works to remove financial barriers to, and creates financial tools for, the adoption of qualified clean energy and greenhouse gas emissions reduction projects. MNCIFA creates and fosters communication between potential investing entities and qualified projects while being sensitive to issues of equity.

Minnesota's new Climate Innovation Finance Authority (MnCIFA) is developing its Strategic Plan for funding clean energy projects across our state. While MnCIFA shows great promise - like helping fund The Heights development's groundbreaking geothermal system - we need to ensure it works for everyone, not just well established organizations.

I recently submitted feedback on MnCIFA's draft investment strategy (link to letter), focusing on key concerns:

• Making funding accessible for smaller projects

• Removing barriers for homeowners and small businesses

• Ensuring support reaches environmental justice communities

• Creating simple, multilingual application processes
